Eceabat is one of the two districts of Canakkale province located in Thrace. The district is located in the southwest of Thrace and on the south and southwest of the Gelibolu peninsula, which is the place where the Battle of Canakkale was written in history.

It has a geography shaped by the Kocaçimen Hill -305 m soft hills, the highest of which is a little over 300 meters, which rises right after the sea surrounding the peninsula, narrow plains trying to find a place for themselves between these hills, and short and weak streams flowing along these plains. Eceabat was established at the beginning of a strategically important waterway, such as the Canakkale Strait, which connects the land routes coming from Asia and Europe with the sea. While the cool waters of the Canakkale Strait are located in the east of the district, the other parts of the peninsula are surrounded by the Aegean Sea and the Gulf of Saros, a part of this sea extending towards Thrace. Its land border is with the Gelibolu district of Canakkale. Beyond the waters of the Bosphorus, Canakkale lies opposite Eceabat.
