Kapaklı - Kapakli - Капаклия - Καπακλί
One of the oldest settlements in Thrace, Kapakli District, with its fertile lands and advanced Organized Industry, is rapidly developing and progressing steadily towards its development and growth goals. The Cerkezkoy and Kapakli Organized Industrial Zone hosts a total of 350 factories. There are no high mountains or valleys around the district. The land generally appears as a plateau with partially eroded hills and semi-plain features. Due to its surface features, there are no large rivers.
In terms of groundwater, weak aquifer conditions exist in the form of discontinuous layers. Low-quality water is found near the surface, while saline water is observed at deeper levels.
Most of the land in the district is suitable for agriculture, so there are not many large areas that define a characteristic vegetation cover. Nevertheless, it shows rich diversity. Woody plants include walnut, linden, oak, black pine, willow, and red pine. Due to low annual rainfall, the vegetation is not very rich. Reforestation efforts are rapidly continuing in degraded forest areas.
Kapakli District is located in the transition zone between the Thrace and Black Sea climates. This has a significant impact on the climate. A semi-continental climate prevails in the region. During the winter months, cold and rainy air from the Balkans affects the region. Summers are generally hot and dry. Spring and autumn are rainy.
Temperature differences between summer and winter are great in the district. The hottest months of the year are July and August.
Fog is frequently encountered in areas with high pressure areas during the winter months. The prevailing winds in the district are the north and northeast winds, known colloquially as karayel and poyraz. The southwestern wind (lodos) brings rain in April and May, while the northerly wind (poyraz) usually brings rain and snow in March.
With Law No. 6360, Kapakli became a new district of Tekirdag, along with Ergene. The town of Karaagac, which is affiliated with Cerkezkoy, and the villages of Bahceagil, Karli, Pinarca, Uzunhaci, and Yanikagil were converted into neighborhoods and incorporated into the district's administrative structure. Additionally, there are neighborhoods named Ataturk, Bahcelievler, Cumhuriyet, Inonu and Ismet Pasa in the district center.
