Evrensekiz - Евренсекиз - Ευρενσεκίζ
During the Ottoman period, the region was an important "Ahi Evren Center." However, there is a legend about Evrensekiz. According to the legend, one day, a plague called "Kiran Disease" emerged in eight villages around Evrensekiz. The disease devastated the population of all these villages. Only eight people survived this calamity. They united, founded Evrensekiz, and became the owners of all this land. Since then, the town has been known as Evrensekiz.
Sultan Murad I, an Ahi leader, took the region, including Evrensekiz, from the Byzantines. During the conquest of Rumelia, he assigned the responsibility of Ahi Evren to Ahi Musa in Malkara. This event in 1366 led to the development and spread of the Ahi Evren movement in Thrace. However, there is also a rumor that the town was named after Evrenos Bey, who captured Evrensekiz and Luleburgaz.
