The "Catalca Province", which was established in 1924 and abolished in 1926, consisted of the districts of Silivri and Büyükçekmece outside the central district. It became a district of Istanbul with a law enacted on June 26, 1926. Later, during World War II, it gained importance due to the defense line protecting Istanbul from the west.

The fact that the highway passes close to Catalca caused the district center and surrounding villages to develop rapidly. The fact that Muratbey village, one of the neighboring villages of Catalca Municipality, is very close to the Ahmediye junction of the TEM highway caused the population of this village to increase and develop very rapidly.
