Enez - Enez - Енос - Ενέζ
Enez is a magnificent settlement right next to the Gulf of Saros, the most beautiful corner of the Aegean Sea, with its crystal clear waters and unique natural beauty, located on the Greek border. It is estimated that the history of Enez, which has such qualified natural advantages and beauties, dates back to 4000 BC. The city has been one of the important cities of a civilization in every sub-period of history. It has the distinction of being one of the most important settlements on the shores of the Gulf of Saros. The Gulf of Saros is a natural paradise that naturally cleans itself, has a rich marine life, and can be used for diving, swimming and many sea-related sports.
Although Enez has at least as much potential in sea, history and nature tourism as the tourism regions in the Aegean Region; it is a place that many people living in Turkey do not even know yet. Although the vast majority of tourists coming to Enez are local; the tourism regions in Greece, located on the opposite side of the same sea, serve international tourism. There are not enough facilities in Enez and generally around the Gulf of Saros. The opening of this region to tourism should be done in accordance with the concept of sustainable and responsible tourism in order to protect the natural beauties. In Enez, a large part of which has been declared a protected area, the recent permission for unsustainable structures that will cause great damage to nature poses a significant danger for the region.
Enez is surrounded by İpsala 21 km in the north, the Keşan district 60 km in the east, and the Aegean Sea and Greece to the south and west by territorial and national borders, with a total of 30 km of sea and 44 km of territorial borders.
The city, called Ainos in ancient times, is located on a peninsula on the northern coast of the Aegean Sea, right on the Turkish-Greek border, where the Meriç River flows into the sea. Various different theories have been put forward regarding the founding of the city.
The district of Enez generally has a Mediterranean climate.
Spring and autumn are rainy, while winters are harsh and dry.
Winter is humid, with little snowfall.
The only state highway in the region is the Enez-Keşan highway.
