Its history dates back to the ancient city of Aphrodisi. In Latin, it is pronounced as Aphrodisi, indicating a temple dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite and a settlement around this temple once existed in the Evrese region. There are almost no remains visible on the ground from this ancient city, whose exact founding date is unknown. However, bust fragments and Roman coins can still be found in this area. This charming town, surrounded by wet plains, used to have thousands of water buffalo until about 10-15 years ago.
