The town is located on the Greece - Istanbul road, 5 km from Ipsala and 16 km from Kesan. There is no forest in the vicinity. The soil is sandy. In the north of the town, there is a stream that flows into Ipsala district from the east. There is flat terrain along this stream. To the east of the town, Hamzadere, which represents the border of Kesan district, flows to Pamuklu through the lake road below the old Koyuntepe Village. There is another stream within the town that dries up in summer and flows in winter. Its water is clean but scarce.

The town has no natural resources. Sand quarries have been opened in specific areas and are operational.

The town was established by people who migrated from Plevna during the 1877 - 1878 Ottoman-Russian war. This area was chosen because of its abundant water and forest. According to the history of settlement movements, it is seen that there was no settlement in the area where the town was founded. Since its establishment, no outsiders have come to settle, and the original lineage has expanded over time.
