Suleymanpasa Municipality, which wants to contribute to the city's economy in Tekirdag and use its own resources efficiently, grows everything from seeds to trees in the fields it owns.
In Suleymanpasa district, the "Women's Hand in Greenhouse Project", which was launched by Suleymanpasa Municipality in order to contribute to the budget of citizens living in the city and to add value to the city's economy by using public resources efficiently, attracted great attention.
Suleymanpasa Mayor Cuneyt Yuksel, who provided information about the municipality nursery within the scope of the program where Suleymanpasa Municipality introduced the services provided to the press members, said, "This is our nursery. The area where the flowers we use to beautify the city are grown. We will hopefully have finished this by the end of the year. We have 5-6 more months of work inside. This is not only Suleymanpasa Municipality's nursery; it is also an area where heirloom seeds are grown, small activities for hobby purposes, especially those that children will participate in, where our grape varieties are exhibited, and decorated with fruit and flower gardens. In addition, this is the Women's Hand in Greenhouse area, a joint project of Kadem, Trakya Development Agency, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, and Viticulture Research Institute. This is a project that we have done on 120 acres of land that includes many purposes. It has taken us a serious amount of time and cost. However, after this work is completed, it will be able to meet many needs of the city, especially the municipalities. In other words, you cannot buy these saplings that you see with money. It is an area where you grow your own saplings, produce your own trees and green the city. It is also an area where children can have a good time. Our seeds are very old, ancestral seeds. It includes melons, watermelons and eggplants," he said.
Stating that various picnic areas will be built with landscaping in the project area, Yuksel said, "With its playgrounds and greened areas, this is becoming an area where our citizens can have a great time, have breakfast, and children can run and play comfortably. This will be a wonderful place especially when the lavenders grow next year, strawberry gardens and grapes grow. We will have finished this place towards the end of the year. This area that you see is a greenhouse all the way to the back. In the meantime, women's training continues. After that, we will say Bismillah," he said.
Yuksel, who provided information during the trip, said, "When you do not buy these trees from outside, a serious amount of money remains in the municipality's coffers. Therefore, our goal is to produce our own seedlings when this place is put into operation, when it is fully put into operation, and to sell the extra if necessary after 3 or 5 years. As you know, we also established a company called Tarim A.S. The products you see are the products we use in our soup kitchen."
