Until the 1970s, the economic structure of Cerkezkoy district was based on agriculture. The main products were cereals and industrial crops. Today, agriculture constitutes 15% of the total population.
The Yaliboyu Organized Industrial Zone was established to protect the Ergene Basin and ensure the orderly development of industry in the region. Located north of the Corlu-Cerkezkoy highway, the 38-hectare industrial area began with applications from facilities, laying the foundation for today's modern organized industrial zone.
The establishment of Velikoy Organized Industrial Zone began in 2011, it was first established as a Rehabilitation Organized Industrial Zone on June 6, 2012, and on October 7, 2013, it gained the status of a normal organized industrial zone.
In 1971, the Council of Ministers decided to include Cerkezkoy district of Tekirdag in the list of Priority Development Regions, and subsequently, with the decision to establish an Organized Industrial Zone, the Cerkezkoy Organized Industrial Zone (ÇOSB) became the starting point of the industrialization movement in Thrace. Accordingly, the region became one of the first areas to implement the planned industrialization models aimed at rapid growth and industrialization, in parallel with the planned development movement that began in Turkiye in 1960.
