Opened by Edirne Municipality in 2018 on the 29th of October, Republic Day, the Hasan Ali Yucel Children's Museum is a social responsibility project based on scientific values, while also considering pedagogical and psychological principles, and offered to the service of children.
The Hasan Ali Yucel Children's Museum is a unique institution that develops the concept of a children's museum by drawing inspiration from examples around the world, and in this mission, it makes a difference in the field of museology, creates added value, and prioritizes education, knowledge, and experience.
All educational programs in the museum are designed to support and enrich the learning outcomes in the Ministry of National Education's pre-school, primary, and secondary school curricula. In structuring and implementing the exhibitions, collections, and educational programs in the museum, effective cooperation is maintained with national and international academics and teachers who are experts in their fields. Administrative staff and educators working at the museum have received professional development training from experts competent in museum education.
The museum is established on a 12,000 m2 open area and has 6 open and 5 closed areas where it implements interactive educational programs with children. The open areas consist of the Biological Pool, Paleontology, Archaeology, Glacier, Entomology, and Engineering Island. The closed areas where interactive education is provided to students are; The areas are Wildlife and Philanthropy, Veterinary Medicine and Love, Environment and Respect, Traffic and Tolerance, and Science and Art. There is also one cafeteria and one projection area.
In the open area (biological pool, paleontology, entomology, and ice island), there are a total of 24 boutonnieres. Some are sound-activated and moving. In these areas, concepts such as the origin of life, Pangea, paleontology, and archaeology are discussed, aiming to develop children's critical thinking skills.
In the indoor areas, values are emphasized. Values such as philanthropy, love, tolerance, and respect are explored, supported by drama, games, and music.
Through exhibitions, programs, and workshops offered in both indoor and outdoor areas, children are provided with various learning opportunities. The aim of these activities is: The aim is to provide lasting learning for children aged 4-7 and 7-12 by creating different learning environments outside of school, through fun, doing, and experiencing.
